Reindeer Romp at the LA Zoo

This yearly tradition delights young and old. Guests can visit live reindeer, as well as enjoy hands-on arts and craft activities for children of all ages. Visitors can also enjoy entertainment, shopping and more. Reindeer Romp runs from November 26, 2009 through January 3, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Closed on Christmas Day. The LA Zoo is located in Griffith Park on Zoo Drive.
Spark of Love Toy Drive

This is the season to share. Please help us make the holiday a little brighter for a needy child. Donate a new, unwrapped toy for the Los Angeles Fire Department’s annual Spark of Love Toy Drive. Bins and a crew are available to receive your donation at the festival entrance.
Travel Town Train Museum Offers Train Rides to Santa
Nov. 28 and 29: December 4, 5, 6, 11,12,13 and 16th through 23 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Weather permitting, the train cannot operate in the rain. Cost is $7.00 per person. Infants under 18 months free. Travel Town is located in Griffith Park.

Traditional Festival

The festival will return to its traditional configuration on December 18 and continue until December 30, 2009. Automobiles will have access to the festival route from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Pedestrians may also walk on the walking path and visit the festival, Shuttles will be available December 18 through 30.


 

 

 







Kick-Off Preview Bike Night


Thursday, December 3, 2009
A preview Bike Night will be held for experienced and novice riders to come and enjoy the festival in a vehicle free activity just for bike riders. Enjoy the festival from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. We will kick-off the holiday season at 5:00 p.m. with our official festival launch and then all visitors can ride the festival on their bicycles.

Come enjoy the festival "vehicle free" monday December 21 and 28 from 5:00p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A “Vehicle Free” Celebration

To demonstrate our continuing commitment to a “greener” LA, the Holiday Light Festival will be a pedestrian only and “vehicle free” event from December 4 - 17. Visitors may park at the L.A. Zoo parking lot. Parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Walkers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and to dress warmly to walk the full one-mile route each way. It is also recommended that walkers have outerwear, as it can get chilly. Shuttles will assist in bringing guests from the remote parking lots to the route entrance.

Family Fun Mini Fair

To celebrate and culminate our “vehicle free” nights, there will be an educational mini fair area December 11, 12 &13 during festival hours for all to enjoy, featuring information on family activities, healthy nutrition, as well as some tasty treats.

Horse Enthusiasts

Equestrian fans can enjoy the festival each evening from December 9 through 30th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (only Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) along the path, Recreation and Parks personnel will be on hand to control the safe use of the path between the riders and walkers.
