Get into the Holiday Spirit at the 14th Annual LADWP Holiday Light Festival
LOS ANGELES — It just wouldn’t be the holidays in Los Angeles without the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s (LADWP) annual Holiday Light Festival in Griffith Park. A beloved tradition that is free of charge and open to all, Angelenos from across the city are invited to come view more than one million energy-efficient LED lights in festive displays showcasing the uniqueness of the City of Los Angeles.
The schedule for the 14th annual Holiday Light Festival is as follows:
December 3: “Bike Night” Preview
Bicyclists will have the festival all to themselves from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. No motor traffic will be permitted.
December 4-17: Vehicle-Free Nights
These nights will be for pedestrians only, as no cars will be on the route. Walkers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, dress warmly for the two-mile stroll and arrive no later than 8:30 p.m. in order to have enough time to walk the entire route before 10:00 p.m. closing.
December 11-13: Family Fun Mini-Fair
Representatives of our sponsoring partners and other City departments will share information on family activities and various City services. Participants include Radio Disney, First 5 LA, the Music Center, Travel Town and more. The Family Fun Mini-Fair will run from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. during these nights and will be located near the L.A. Zoo parking lot.
December 18-30: Traditional Festival
The festival will be open to motor vehicles. Paths will remain open for pedestrians from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Drivers may enter the festival on Crystal Springs Drive and Riverside Drive.
Spark of Love Toy Drive
Visitors are encouraged to support the Los Angeles City Fire Department’s Spark of Love Toy Drive by bringing a new, unwrapped gift to the festival. Drop-off bins will be located throughout the festival. Spark of Love donations benefit less fortunate children in Los Angeles.
Parking
Free parking will be available in the L.A. Zoo parking lot, off of Zoo Drive, on a first come, first served basis. Shuttle pick-up service will be available in the Zoo parking lot during the traditional festival, December 18-30.
The Holiday Light Festival is made possible through a collaboration between LADWP, the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, the Autry National Center, the L.A. Zoo, CalTrans, KOST 103.5FM, Radio Disney, KLVE 107.5FM and all of the workers who bring the festival to life.
